Regattaufer (Stralau / Alt-Stralau)
Our dip on the Spree takes place on the Alt-Stralau peninsula, where Krister leads the Saturday circle from the breathing exercise into the river and back to the tea afterwards. If you live anywhere between Kreuzberg and Treptow, Friedrichshain included, this is the closest one for you.

Meeting point
We meet at Regattaufer on the Spree, on the Alt-Stralau peninsula. Please come on time but not too early, because standing around in the wind is worse than the water itself.
Tunnelstraße 30, 10245 Berlin
Check locationBVG
From S-Bahn Treptower Park or Ostkreuz you can walk onto the Stralau peninsula, and the tram along Warschauer Straße and Markgrafendamm is another option. Keep in mind that this spot is more exposed to the wind than the lakes.
Shore
We go into the river from the public path. Please never dip in the Rummelsburger Bucht, which is heavily contaminated with arsenic. After heavy rain the water quality of the Spree gets worse, because overflow from the combined sewers enters the river around Osthafen, although Stralau is usually still in better shape than the stretches further downstream.
Legal
The Spree is not an official bathing site, and Berlin generally only allows swimming at the official Badestellen, although we have never had any trouble with the Ordnungsamt here. You dip at your own risk, and since this is no swimming event we stay close to the shore.
Berlin swimming lawWinter water
The Spree is moving water and rarely freezes over the way the small lakes do, so we can usually still get in during a cold spell. Because of the wind on the bank it often feels colder here than at a sheltered lake.
Water temperatureSeason 26/27
The inaugural dip of season 26/27 takes place here on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 10:00, and after that we meet every Saturday until 27 March 2027.
