Plötzensee East (Wedding)

Plötzensee is our longest-running dip in Berlin, where Jakob guides the group from the breathing exercise into the water, before everyone warms up with tea on the shore. We expect beginners every week, and they are always welcome.

Meeting point

We meet at the Steingarten on the east shore of Plötzensee, where you will see a circle of people on yoga mats shortly before 10:00.

BVG

The closest stations are Westhafen and Amrumer Straße on the U9, from where you walk a short way through Volkspark Rehberge or along the lake, and the buses on Müllerstraße work as well. On icy mornings it is worth planning a few extra minutes.

Shore

We go into the water from a concrete shelf along the shore. The summer crowds have damaged parts of the shoreline around Plötzensee, so please use the existing entry points, stay out of the reeds and never climb over a fence.

Legal

In summer Strandbad Plötzensee is one of the official bathing sites of Berlin, and our winter meeting point is a public stretch of shore close by. Under Berlin law anyone swimming outside the marked Strandbad areas does so at their own risk, and nature protection areas are off limits.

Winter water

Plötzensee is a compact city lake, and in mid-winter the water is usually only a few degrees above freezing, with a thin shelf of ice sometimes forming at the edge after a few nights of frost and thaw. We stay close to the shore, where everyone can stand.

Season 26/27

This season starts on Saturday 7 November 2026 at 10:00 and runs until 27 March 2027. Jakob has been leading the dips here since the early years of the community, and before that he also led them at Treptower Park.
